The week in pictures…

This week we have continued to practise our teen numbers and tricky bugs. Outside we have acted out The Three Billy Goats Gruff, made Jack’s beanstalk, followed recipes in the mud kitchen and even managed to make the most of the rain today with the guttering!

Today we also voted for our favourite Traditional Tale and the most popular was Little Red Riding Hood. I cannot wait for us to story map, retell, innovate and write our story next week!

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

The week in songs…

This week was our final creative arts rotation before half term. We finished off our french learning with some numbers and colours. Here are some of our favourite songs that we have danced and listened to including body parts, counting, animals and greetings…

We have also began to story tell The Little Red Hen following the actions of Pie Corbett….

Remember next week is Healthy Week where we will learn how to keep our bodies and minds fit and happy!

Have a lovely weekend everyone

The week in pictures…

This week we have watched our sunflowers begin to grow! They are nearly ready to be transferred into bigger pots and live outdoors. Our week has also involved spiral art, writing in french (SO clever!) and bug hunts!

We are also pleased to let you know that the Big Pedal results are in and the winning year group with 1,364 active journeys to school is Foundation! Their prize is some Pedal Go’s for our playground! Great work everyone 🙂

The week in pictures…

This week we have focused on measuring in maths where we have compared the size of farm animals and had a go at estimating how many cubes long the pictures may be. Wednesday is our creative rotation day and we enjoyed exploring the apparatus in PE, created colourful spirals in art and retold the story of Hocus the dinocroc and learnt animal names in french!

The week ended with dressing blue for the loo! The children showed great maturity and empathy when talking about the importance of toilets and how lucky we are to have them, making our town a clean, germ free place to live. Thank you for all the kind donations.

Have a lovely weekend everyone!

P.s… I saw some shoots appearing from our sunflower pots just before I went home!!

The week in pictures…

This week we have been learning greetings and animal names in french including bird, duck and frog from retelling the story of Hocus the Dinocroc! The children have looked at the halving and noticed it is the opposite of doubling. They remembered to share their cubes equally between them to have half each. When the sun has been shining, we went on a tricky bug hunt and have all now planted a sunflower seed. The children told us that we need soil, water, sunshine and to talk to our seeds to help them grow!

Have a lovely bank holiday weekend everyone!

Welcome back!

We hope you all had a lovely Easter break. The children have been telling us about many Easter egg hunts in homes, gardens and at The Great Field with family members 🙂

We are beginning our new learning this half term all about how things grow. We will look at the life cycle of plants and animals, learn information about mini beasts and enjoy lots of stories including Little Red Hen. Below is our Foundation virtual library where you can click on the books and insects to listen to stories and learn about them. The children enjoyed looking at this in school this week and choosing some of the stories to listen to.

Happy Easter!

We have reached the end of the Spring term and what a busy half term it has been! All of our dinosaur learning has been compiled into a fantastic film for you and will be sent out at the start of next term!

Today’s vocabulary day was a brilliant way to finish off the term. We celebrated everybody’s costumes by taking part in a vocabulary parade with Skipper and Meadow Foundation cheering us on!

I am so pleased that we helped find all of Mr Googly’s Easter eggs and so kind of him to share them with the children! There was some left for myself and Mrs Jackson.. yum!

A change for after half term is that PE day will now be every Wednesday.

Below is also a reminder to make active journeys to school next term for the Big Pedal and there is a DASP writing/ drawing competition that you can enter. Grayling Foundation has already had a fantastic writing entry 🙂

Have a lovely Easter holiday everybody! X

The week in pictures…

This week we have been thinking about Spring time, what changes happen in this season and what new life is born. I have also been super impressed at how independent the children have been in their guided reading groups and what brilliant comprehension they all have when talking about a story.

Finally we wanted to show you how many tricky bugs we now have up on the wall! They go all the way around! The children are brilliant at using our new tricky bugs in sentences and spotting which bit is tricking us!

Great learning Grayling Foundation!
